About VPMAG

What can I say? I don’t want to be generic or write the standard “goal is to inspire others” disposition. I think the site itself is self-explanatory, so why feel the need to beat the audience over the head with the obvious. Moving forward, when I first started this blog, it was off improv. Never planned it out or even thought that I would ever create an art/photography/film collective in my life. I was literally putting together a blog for my own purpose to showcase my own works and became indecisive at one point. But then I realized a certain kind of inspiration was lacking, the same kind of inspiration that inspired me and how the digital art world had become so dominated by clean cut fashion that other areas in my opinion weren’t getting the shine it deserved. Don’t get me wrong, I love fashion but I hate trends. And in my opinion, I wasn’t able to look for what I wanted specifically because of trends and how the majority of content was always shifted towards a particular style. I have always been devil’s advocate whenever it came down to trends, all my life I have always looked in the opposite, away from the majority. And as time went on, I realized my DNA has crept up into this site. This was an extension of me, a resemblance of who I am and what I represent, what inspires me. Consequently, what I wanted to inspire others.
VPMAG is inspired by New York City. NYC is known for its relentlessness, flare, cockiness, and forward attitude. A melting pot of the bourgeoisie, bohemians, beatniks, artists, poets, businessmen, and the list goes on. It draws inspiration from the upscale Upper East Side blending it with the more urban/street art driven West Village. Its non-conformist, neo-presence, as well as game changing aspirations are inspired by Harlem. And street sophistication seeks to emulate the ambience of SOHO.
I have always been inspired by hip-hop/sports/street culture/cars/etc and seek to introduce a new flavor that I don’t see too often, or is subdued due to the over-abundance of the same content flooding the digital art world today. However, that doesn’t mean that I will give up other areas of art to pigeon hole VPMAG, not at all. Simply, I and those who are down with the movement will seek to shift a majority of our content to create awareness and an appreciation for an area of art that many others have not attempted to cover, which you may have witnessed already. What I want you to understand is that will continue to have an unbiased approach towards art and not be fearful to go against the grain. In other words, setting the stage for something fresh, untraditional and somewhat free spirited. Nonetheless, VPMAG will always post the latest videos/photographs/art work but will find innovative ways to deliver them. Essentially, I think if you understand what was written before you, you will understand the personality of this site and be able to appreciate the content that it displays.
Peace
